Chris Rayburn

Exhibition Dates: October 16, 2025 — october 15, 2026

Chris Rayburn is a photographer and printmaker.  His work isolates day to day patterns from where we live to allow the viewer to see things they may have otherwise dismissed.

The works at Wuersch Gering comprise portions of four series spanning the last ten years.  Each image is carefully created to separate and simplify its subject from its location and establish a common visual vocabulary between images.  From tract homes to trees in our built environment, Rayburn’s images encourage the viewer to slow down time and see in new ways, both the subjects of his images and the dialog between them.

Rayburn lived in Brooklyn, NY in the 1980’s and was a working artist while he was employed by museums, galleries and corporations to handle and install art.  He moved to Iowa in the 1990’s and managed a family-owned construction products business that he and his team grew and successfully sold.  Over the past 35 years, he has served in various leadership roles on nonprofit Boards in both the Midwest and in New York City.  Most importantly, since moving from New York, he and his wife Mary raised two daughters who are both wonderful women.

Works by Rayburn have been included in numerous curated and juried exhibitions in Iowa, Illinois and New York.  He and his wife currently live in Chicago, Illinois.
