About SYLVI
Sylvi Sareva focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration. She represents clients in a wide range of disputes, including multi-party contractual matters and indemnification claims, and business torts, often involving cross-border issues and parties in foreign countries. She has also represented clients in environmental disputes and RICO claims.
Sylvi’s experience spans all stages of litigation in state and federal court and in arbitration, including drafting pleadings and procedural as well as dispositive motions, managing fact and expert discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing witnesses, and conducting examinations at arbitration hearings. She has drafted numerous appellate briefs, and petitions for certiorari before the U.S. Supreme Court. She also advises clients on dispute strategy and resolution, including in settlement negotiations and in mediation.
Sylvi has extensive experience with arbitral regimes, including ICC, AAA, UNCITRAL, and ICSID rules, and the enforcement of arbitral awards. She has built significant expertise in disputes involving state-owned entities including issues of foreign sovereign immunity.
Before joining the Wuersch & Gering, Sylvi practiced at a leading international law firm in New York, where she handled complex litigation and arbitration matters. Sylvi received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was a Notes Editor of the Journal of International Law and Politics, and her B.A. in English, cum laude, from Kenyon College. She is fluent in Finnish and proficient in French.
