Charles E. Chromow, Senior Counsel Taxation
Mr. Chromow's practice focuses on taxation. He obtained his J.D. from Harvard Law School and an L.L.M., Taxation from New York University School of Law.
Prior to affiliating with the firm in 2009, for almost ten years he served as an Executive Director with Ernst & Young LLP, where he specialized in optimizing the federal income tax consequences of mergers and acquisitions. His achievements included structuring tax-free business combinations and divestitures, arranging tax-advantageous cross-border transfers of technology and crafting an innovative deductible loss on an investment partnership's sale of a portfolio company.
For a number of years, he managed the domestic tax planning group at The Chase Manhattan Bank where he became experienced in varied federal income tax issues of financial institutions related to transactions including joint ventures, internal restructurings and financing strategies. Mr. Chromow has engaged in significant controversy work with the Internal Revenue Service.
