Pierre Imhof

Pierre Imhof was born in 1956, in Fribourg (Switzerland), where he grew up. In 1979 he moved to the United Kingdom and from 1983 to 1986 studied painting and sculpture at Middlesex University, London. He lives and works in London and Berlin.

Imhof has exhibited in Europe, North America, and South America, and his work features in private, public and corporate collections in Austria, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the United States.

He has also translated the lyrics of Serge Gainsbourg from French to English, for British singer Mick Harvey (Pink Elephants), and published in German a short biography of Oscar Wilde (Allem kann ich widerstehen nur der Versuchung nicht, Eulenspiegel Verlag, Berlin, 2004).

Imhof’s recent work addresses the changes in the human experience of the world resulting from new technology in general and our use of smartphones and tablets in particular. Most of the works shown at Wuersch & Gering form part of a series entitled “Metropolis, Operating System XXX”.
